About Me

My name is Stephen Mason and I run Alkuon Life Solutions, a therapy practice based in Alford, Lincolnshire. I started my career as a dentist working within the National Health Service, having taken a degree in dentistry.  Whilst working in this role I became aware of the effects of anxiety, stress and phobias on my patients.  In particular I gained valuable insight into dental phobias and anxieties.  These types of psychological issues had a negative effect on the treatment experience and often led to patients living with poor dental health and pain. Often these issues could have been easily dealt with if they had felt confident enough to attend for treatment.

 

I left dentistry as I felt I would like to find ways in which I could have a positive influence on people’s lives.  I was involved in teaching dancing to adults for a number of years and it was during this time that I became aware of the positive effects that could be gained by individuals taking time for themselves. I also noticed that as the students learnt new skills their overall confidence seemed to grow.

 

During this period I undertook my Reiki training with Reiki Evolution.  I took my Reiki  first and second degree trainings in 2008 with Kay Gillard.  I was impressed with the positive changes that Reiki brought about in my own life and felt convinced that it would bring about positive changes for others.  

 

During my time working as a dentist I had taken basic level training in hypnosis techniques and had used these with good outcomes.  I decided that I would like to pursue further training to enable me to become a qualified Hypnotherapist.  My training was carried out with The Academy of Advanced Changework in London and Sheffield. My training included the use of a wide range of psychotherapeutic approaches including NLP, CBT and Discursive Empowerment.

 

I use an eclectic approach to therapy, which means that although hypnosis is a major part of my practice I will utilise a range of techniques to help you achieve the changes which you are looking for.  I take my role as a therapist seriously and am bound by the codes of conduct of my professional bodies.  You will be handled in a caring, professional manner and from your first contact with me anything you say will be kept confidential.  Your needs are of paramount importance to me and you can be sure that I will work with you to give you the very best chance of success.
